Earlier this week The Carters visited the headquarters of TIDAL in Norway. For those of y'all who does not know Tidal is JayZ's most recent business endeavor. It is is a subscription-based music streaming service that combines lossless audio and high definition music videos with curated editorial. The service has over 25 million tracks and 75,000 music videos. Currently offering no free subscription plans, Tidal claims to pay the highest percentage of royalties to music artists and songwriters within the music streaming market. Tidal was originally called Aspiro. Jay and Bey are big advocates on the artist getting paid their rightful amount for allowing a company to stream their music. JayZ recently did a private concert and rapped the following lyrics to explain his disgust with the streaming industry.
I feel like Youtube is the biggest culprit
Them n*ggas pay you a tenth of what you supposed to get
You know n*ggas die for equal pay right?
You know when I work I ain’t your slave right?
You know I ain’t shucking and jiving and high fiving
You know this ain’t back in the days right?
But I can’t tell, how the way they killed Freddie Gray right
Shot down Mike Brown how they did Tray right?
Let them continue choking n*ggas
We gonna turn style, I ain’t your token n*gga
You know I came in this game independent right?
Tidal, my own label, same difference
Overall right now people are pissed because it looks like the Tidal Staff is all white. Everyone is asking (mainly the Black folks) where are the black employees. Personally I do not see anything wrong with this picture being that the headquarters of Tidal is located in Norway. I'm tracking that their are roughly 90,000 black people in Norway ( the number may or may not be accurate) but I personally do no think that Jay and Bey should be getting blasted for not having any Black employees. First off Tidal is not even 6 months old, the organization is still growing. Why pass judgment when the company is still being established. I hate seeing things like this and it's highly disturbing. If you are a black person complaining about the Tidal Staff my question is are you willing to move to Norway right now? Also black people are not flocking to the Technology realm as much as other races have been doing, we truly are hurting for black people in the STEM community. I wish people would think these through before they make an on the spot opinion.
Stop speaking ill and negative upon those who do not fit into your standards. The Carters have proved their loyalty over and over again to the Black Community but I've come to realize some folks you can not please.
Shout out to Jay and Bey for doing great things and let the haters keep hating.
Remember To Always Be
Fierce and Fabulous
