Beyonce (APPRECIATION not APPROPRIATION ) of the Indian Culture

The musical group "ColdPlay" recently released a new video for their songs "Hymn of the Weekend". Upon hearing the title of the song I thought the song would be some sort of weekend anthem, but my assumption was nowhere near what the song really focused on. The song focuses on love and takes place in India during Holi ( festival of colours or the festival of love). Additionally ColdPlay has Beyonce contributing her amazing vocals throughout the song and that is ultimately why I watched the video in the first place. ColdPlay has previous music videos that highlights other cultures around the world and I think choosing to bring awareness to the Indian culture in "Hymn of the Weekend" was a great idea.

BUT with anything, there's always drama and hateful comments being spewed into the atmosphere. In the music video Beyonce can be seen wearing attire that many would consider to be that of Indian culture. Once this was discovered comments of "Culture Appropriation" immediately began to take over the internet. Upon hearing the comments this was the face I made.

Seriously, folks really want to come for Beyonce like the #BeyHive wont SHUT IT DOWN.

Any comments that speak negatively towards Beyonce does not sit well with me, especially when it's obvious that people are coming for her simply because of who she is and the status that she holds.

Let's take a look at this SO CALL APPROPRIATION

Here Beyonce is seen rocking Henna Art upon her hands, facial/head jewelry, and Indian clothing attire.
First let's talk about Beyonce who just so happens to be African American, Native American, and French/Creole. I am only going to focus on her African roots because AFRICA aka the motherland is the central/starting point for human life according to history and the discovery of human remains.

Henna is very popular in the Indian community. It is worn throughout many areas of the body to include the face, hands, arms, and feet. The henna plant is not only found in Southeast Asia, but  is also native to northern Africa and Australasia( a region of Oceania, which comprises of Australia, New Zealand, the island of New Guinea, and neighbouring islands in the Pacific Ocean). The dye from the Henna plant has been used in Africa throughout time to include during ancient Egypt as a way to dye skin and hair.

Being that Beyonce is of African Descent and Henna is apart of African culture, I say Beyonce has every right to wear Henna if she wants to. If you don't believe me see the photos below for proof.

Looks like HENNA to me

Boom there it goes again more HENNA

Now what was that being said about CULTURAL APPROPRIATION and Beyonce being in the wrong.

Okay next up is the facial/head jewelry she wore in the music video.

As I stated previously facial/head jewelry can also be seen being worn by many women within African cultures.

she has on head jewelry and she's rocking HENNA

The director of the music video is Indian (Ben Mor) and saw nothing wrong with Beyonce's attire. He new working with Beyonce meant that great things would come of his project. The person who played one of the most important roles in the creation of the music video was actual amazed when he saw Beyonce in the attire.

Majority of the time when black people wear items outside of their culture it is not done to ridicule that culture, it is done to show APPRECIATION. I think it is tough to say a black woman is appropriating another culture when much of every culture stems from Africa. The things that cracks me up the most is that this is not Beyonce's song yet she's taking the most heat. The video title does not even say featuring Beyonce, yet she's the center of attention, but hey when you are the Queen, that is expected. I am guessing the HATERS were caught off guard by her SLAYAGE.

I'll conclude with the fact that besides getting to see Beyonce give me life, I enjoyed the video and the opportunity to see Bollywood, Indian children embracing their culture, and the real streets of India. There are great attributes that stem from exploring and highlighting other cultures and I applaud ColdPlay for stepping outside the box and doing just that.

When it is all said and done, I say we take a moment to dive into the BEAUTY THAT IS BEYONCE..... just look at these gorgeous shot taken from the music video.

Personally I think that anytime anyone has the opportunity to come for Beyonce they will, and as a STAN I can not just sit by and allow that to happen.

After the discussions I have seen take place over this music video I have concluded that basically no one outside a culture can embrace or participate in it because if they choose to do so it will be consider CULTURAL APPROPRIATION and folks will be all butt hurt and in their feelings.

Guess what she's still Queen Bey and will still do whatever she wants to ....
hence her song GROWN WOMAN

"I'm a GROWN WOMAN .......I can do whatever I want"

Tina Knowles Lawson covers the Ebony Magazine #SexyForeverIssue

Y'all know I love me some good ole Beyonce related news. I was elated to here that Mama Tina (the nickname the Beyhive gave her, I'm going to have to refer from using Mama Tina in the blog but just know that's what I call her) was gracing the July cover of Ebony Magazine. Something like this was definitely overdue and I'm happy she has the opportunity to share her story. Mrs. Tina Knowles Lawson. She's the mother of Beyonce Knowles Carter and Solange Knowles Ferguson ( The daughter of Agnez Dereon and Lumus Beyince). She 's a fashion designer and a hairstylist at heart.

Add caption

Mrs. Tina recently remarried this past April to actor Richard Lawson and the wedding looked amazing. Along with becoming a wife again, Tina has been able to embrace becoming a grandmother for a 2nd and 3rd time with the births of Blue Ivy and Titan.

Tina is showing us how much finer things get with time

This particular issue of Ebony Magazine is entitled the "#SexyForeverIssue and highlights on how Mrs Tina is 61 and can still bring the fire. She truly does look absolutely amazing. We definitely see who gave Beyonce Giselle and Solange Piaget their fabulous looks.
Being offered this particular cover/issue came as a surprise to Mrs. Tina

"When I was asked to do the Sexy Forever ‘Ebony’ magazine cover, my first question was, ‘Me really?’ I had some reservations but as I thought of all the women who tell me daily that I have inspired them to live a wholehearted life, which includes your sexuality. I am proud to be 61 years old and to not be putting limitations on my lifestyle. We can still be sexy and vibrant, fashionable, classy and fly until the day we die!”"

To set the stage for her April 2015 nuptials, the family created a private, feature length movie: The Life & Times of BadAss Tenie B & ColdAss Rickey Lee. The release came complete with a red carpet event. Part blaxsploitation spoof, part anthropological family documentary, the film confirms that the story of Knowles Lawson’s life—and her self-possessed “sexy”—began long before the world encountered her gifted offspring. Born in Galveston, Texas, where the Freedman’s Bureau was headquartered after slavery was abolished, and a few hundred miles from mystical New Orleans, where her family is from, one can sense that the newlywed has always conjured a kind of Free Black Woman Magic.
In an exclusive EBONY interview, the enigmatic bombshell lovingly references her “first family” of entertainment and opens up about her life. The last of seven siblings, each of whom has one of four variations of the same last name Boyance (“The hospital told my mama be happy we even got birth certificates.”) “Tenie B,” her nickname since childhood, shares that she was mistreated by Black nuns in elementary school, took off solo to California at 18, and by 34, with little ones in tow, opened one of the biggest, baddest Black hair salons Houston had ever known. In an hours-long interview, and while snuggled under chenille blankets and gazing out at the spectacular view of Hollywood from her home, Knowles Lawson details the major phases of her life that include mothering a global phenom and her multifaceted fashionista sister. Most important, she says, she’s doing all this while still living her own damn life.

I really admire the strength of "CELESTINE BEYINCE" (I bet y'all didn't know that was her government name) One day I hope to thank her personally for raising such amazing daughters and role models. I'm pretty sure Matthew Knowles is somewhere crying in the corner and regretting doing Mama Tina wrong ( he lost a good one )

I look forward to what Mama Tina, aka Empress Creole, aka The Original Queen Bey words of wisdom in this issue and what she has for or us in the future

Feeling Myself *Music Video* Nicki Minaj feat Beyonce.

The long overdue "Feeling Myself" music video from Beyonce and Nicki Minaj has been released. Wait actually this is Nicki's song but with the queen on the track that means total take over.

The video was filmed in Coachella, California with some scenes in the video of  Nicki and Beyonce having a blast at the actual Coachella Music Festival. The video was originally released on Tidal and is now slowing making its way around the internet.

I'm currently deployed to the Middle East so I was asleep when the video was first released but once I woke up and saw the news I literally screamed. Y'all know how anything Beyonce related excites me to the corps. Nicki and Beyonce look flawless in this video and I love everything about it. Its great to see them doing simple stuff such as chilling in the pool, shooting water guns, eating hamburgers, and tossing fries into each others mouth. It also helps that both women are super gorgeous. I also got a good laugh out of watching Beyonce trying to be a hype girl for Nicki, she did a great job with that but of course she would she's Beyonce.

Check out the music video below and let me know what you think in the comment section, y'all know I'm feeling myself now.

And yo Bey when are we going to get the FLAWLESS REMIX video ... just give it to her now while we are already played.

*NEW SONG* Nicki Minaj feat Beyonce (FEELING MYSELF)

Nicki is back on the scene and is set to release her new album THE PINK PRINT on December 15, 2014. I checked out the songs on the album and saw that she had a song featuring Queen Bey and I instantly got excited.

But what else is new since I always get excited when new music with Beyonce is released even if she's only a featured artist on the track.

Check out her newest feature she did with rap phenom Nicki Minaj and yes she's still in her YONCE mode. Let me know what you think about the song ( The Good Bad and the UGLY). You all should know that I'm jamming out to it as I type this blog.

The line in the sign that stands out to me the most is when Nicki says that her YOU KNOW WHAT IS ON FLEEK * covers my mouth* I forgot that Nicki is a rap artist and can be a bit vulgar at times. Either way I'm still loving it

BEYONCE kills it when she sings

Changed the game with that digital drop
Know where you was when that digital popped
I stopped the world
Male or female, it make no difference
I stop the world, world stop...
Carry on

NEW VIDEO *BEYONCE* 7/11

I'm filled with excitement as I type this blog. Currently I am deployed to the middle east specifically to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Everyday I wake up at 4am in order to get ready for the day and head to Physical Training formation which is held every weekday at 5am. Well this morning on Saturday 22 November * in the eastern hemisphere* I woke up at 4 out of habit, checked my phone and SCREAMED when I saw that my girl Beyonce was twerking on a balcony to to her new song 7/11.

This video is random and I love it, most of all I think a good portion of the video she recorded on her own. The video starts with Bey turning on a camera while she's on the balcony. She starts off the video dancing on the balcony and simply performing the moves to the words that she is singing about in her song while rocking a KALE sweatshirt. Bey proceeds to jump on a bed *that blue is sleeping on * #ItsOfficialBeyHasNoChill. She then proceeds to go to the rest room with her entourage/dancers/girls next the video heads the living room area where Bey does a bunch of random stuff in front of a Christmas Tree. The song is random so it would make since that the video be random and all over the place as well.

Beyonce has reached a point in her career where she can do what she want and have fun. She's about to have everyone twerking and just having fun this holiday season. #SmackItInTheAir

Checkout her new music video below.

New BEYONCE music leaked RING OFF and 7/11

Beyonce is set to released the Platinum edition of her Fifth Album BEYONCE on November 24. The album contains two new tracks and those 2 tracks have been leaked to the public. Beyonce usually likes to keep her music private until she wants to release them so I know she's not to happy about the leaks.

I love both songs. In 7/11 Beyonce gives us Ratchet Bey aka YONCE and I love it. It actually might be too much for some people.

Ring Off is a bit more emotional. I currently have that song on repeat as I type this blog. This is the side of Beyonce that we are accustomed to and she serves and slays. Ring off sings about a woman who overcomes heartache from a man who no longer loves her therefore the RING COMES OFF. I'm more than sure this song is talking about the nasty breaking up between Matthew and Tina Knowles.
The song ends with a speech that was given by Tina which validates the speculations even more.I think its pretty dope that Beyonce has a song to celebrate her mama's triumph over heartache.

Now when the snippet of Ring Off was released on the 19th of November many people speculated that Beyonce was talking about her marriage when in fact she was not. It amazes me how quick people are to jump to conclusions on certain things and look like a complete fool.

KUDOS QUEEN we love your new songs girl. Keep giving us great music. Check out RING OFF and 7/11 below. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Kelly Rowland give birth to a BABY BOY

It's a BOY It's a BOY, but of course we all knew that.

One of my favorite ladies has given birth and I'm in love with her baby's name

Congratulations to Kelendria Rowland and Tim Weatherspoon on the birth of their first child together.

"Titan Jewell Weatherspoon" was born on November 4, 2014 at 1:30PT weighing in at 7.5lbs

Kelly released an official statement saying

"We are thrilled to announce that today we are the proud parents of our first son, We are blessed to report everyone is healthy and happy!"

Bringing life into this world is such a magical moment. I know Kelly and Tim will be great parents to their new baby boy. I look forward to seeing their bundle of joy. Enjoy motherhood Kelly, you are going to be a fierce and fabulous mommy.

Check out what Solange and Beyonce Knowles had to say about Kelly becoming a mommy

#Emoasever Hard to believe as the baby, I was the momma of the family in this photo. I've now watched both of my incredible sisters give the gift of life in such magnificent, powerful, graceful, strides. I couldn't be more moved today as I think about the power of sisterhood, kinship, and womanhood. The greatest crown to wear. The strongest bond, unbreakable. Strength, endless. Love, at the root of it all.

Halloween 2014 ( from adorable to OH HECK NO)

Halloween 2014 was very eventful and like always people around the world SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT with their creative costumes. My personal favorite costume(s) of the season just so happens to be one worn by my favorite singer * Im not being bias, y'all know Beyonce and Blue killed it. Check out how the mother/daughter duo pay homage to the #KingOfPop and his FIERCE sister.
Beyonce is wearing Janet Jackson "Rhythm Nation" ensemble while Blue Ivy portrays Michael Jackson

All we would have needed was for Beyonce to bust out with some Janet moves

Bey really nailed Janet

You cant look at this and not smile

Okay time to check out some of the best and most hilarious costumes of the season. I honestly can say Halloween always gives me a few good laughs and makes me look at people with the stank face ( while giving them the side eye).
We are all familiar with the photo on the right

On The Run ( opening look )

Overall it looks like Halloween 2014 was a total success. The costumes were on point and it looks like events from the past 12 months were fully represented through the costumes this year. We had Beyonce's infamous grammy performance and her on the run tour, to the disgruntle black man in the green shirt from feguson along with the arrest of Donna G ( Miss POP hold it down). I also like how movies and characters from the past were recongnized to include the Poetic Justic and the Friday cast. I personallly was not able to dress up this year due to the fact that I am deployed but best believe next year it's going down and I'm bringing my A game.

I'm leaving yall with my favorite costume of the 2014 Halloween season

The revamp loo of Beyonce's 2014 VMA performance outfit * now I need someone to tell me who this girl is so I can hit her up and ask her a few questions about her awesome costume*
