The ABCs of life * A powerful graduation speech*

I was tagged in a graduation speeh * thanks Barb Jeffcoat* and it starts off with a young black male named Tim Lee. Who speaks to his classmates in a very articulate manner at their graduation. His classmates are the class of 2004 of Hampton University. He's encouraging his classmates to overcome the obstacles that they will face after school. He's letting them know that life will not be easy and nothing will be handed to them.

In order to overcome these challenges he gives his advice through the use of the alphabet, he calls it The ABC's of life

A-accept the challenge
B- believe in ourselves
C- convert our thoughts into hopes
D- determination to convert our hopes into dreams
E- expect some obstacles on the way up
F- fight while being faithful and finish the course
G- get GOD on our side
H- Have a harving model of leadership
I- inspire someone else
J- take JESUS on our journey
K- keep on keeping on
L- be a leader
M- make every day count
N- never give up
O- overcome our obstacles
P- put our best foot forward
Q- quit quitting
R- run the race with pacers
S- strive on
T- trusting in the lord
U- use our talents
V- value our time
W- wait for understanding
X- X-ray our own live styles
Y- yearn to achieve all that we seek
Z- be zealous when reaching the top.
Check out the powerful video below.

Tim used the ABC's to inspire his entire class and many others. Through the use of the ABCs he speaks about working hard, not being afraid to fight and keeping the lord in your life in order to succeed. The reaction of his classmates shows that with his words he gave them just the push that they needed to go out and tackle those upcoming obstacles. What a great way to end your collegiate career. Tim Lee you are something special. Below you will find the Tim's entire speech

Beyonce and JayZ "On The Run Music Trailer "

Beyonce is infamous for dropping big hits as if her product is not about to turn the world upside down and inside out. In late April she announced the she would be going on a Summer tour throughout the United States and the tour would be a joint collaboration with her husband JayZ. The Summer tour is entitled "On The Run" and will be one of the  highlight of Summer 2014

Saturday night 17 May 2014 Bey released what looks to be a movie trailer entitled "RUN" which was inspired by her and JayZ's song On the Run and their upcoming summer tour. The trailer depicts a couple who are obviously madly in love with one another who appear to be involved in some underground illegal related buiness They then proceeds to rob a bank and go on the run. Two lovers living out some vague fantasy as they duck and dodge the law.

The trailor has an amazing cast to go along with the action packed thriller, check out the star studded cast below.

Sean Pennrun 6
Don Cheadle
 run 7
Jake Gyllenhaal
 run 4
Blake Lively
 run2
Guillermo Díazrun 5
Emmy Rossum
 run 3
Rashida Jones and Kidada Jones
 run 1

The trailer received many praises but of course there's always someone who has to try to dim the light when others are shining brightly. Some of the negative comments that I have observed are that the preview looks too violent, Beyonce can't act, and then the usual Bey and Jay are overrated.

Let me break a few things down for those who have someting negative to say. First off of course the trailer is going to be violent, the song and tour are called "On the Run" did you think they would be running through a field of flowers. Please think things through before you try to be the sour apple in the bunch. Im sure the people making these comments are the same people who watch violent movies such as Kill Bill, gladiator, and 300. Next lets talk about Beyonce's acting, honestly I dont see anything wrong with it, I mean she's not a Halle Berry or a Viola Davis, but she's pretty decent and can hold her on. Now I know I might be a bit biased because I'm a stan, but she honestly is not as bad as many people try to make her out to be. In order to have great music videos you also have to be a pretty decent actress, check her out in her newest music video Pretty Hurts she's convincing to me. Lastly lets discuss the fact that Jay and Bey are apparently overrated. Can someone please define what makes someone overrated. Just because they are two successful people who happen to appear in the media does not make them overrated that makes them relevant to everyone who tries to stay inside their buisness.

Can we just marvel at how fierce Beyonce make's floating in a pool of money appear. Its all about the BENJAMINS baby.

 run 8

Although the trailor seems as if it will be a hit the sad truth is that we might only get the trailer and nothing more. At the end of the video were the words COMING NEVER. So at this moment we can only take what we can get. Check out the music video below

Like Always Bey and Jay had the internet buzzing with the release of this trailer check out what the people are saying

Where have All the fathers gone #TRAILER

When the discussion of the black community is on the table one thing that can not be helped but be noticed is the absence of the black man within the family environment. I am the product of a single parent household, along with almost all of the other females I went to school and grew up with. Not having a father was something that was common and we were accustomed to it. We were immune to the fact that we were being raised only by our mothers and did not think twice about not having a male figure in our life.

It is sad to think that an idea such as that is so common and we have grown to be perfectly fine with it. The black community has changed tremendously over the years and many events play a role in the reasoning of why things are they way are no in todays society. One vital part would be seperation of the black family during slavery.

During the time of the Atlantic Slave Trade, slave owners freely broke up families, not caring about what effect the was on the family and the stability of its survival. The breaking up of those families can still be felt in present day society. Currently 57.6% of African America children live in homes without a father. That is more than half of the black community being raised by a single mother. Also in 2013 68% or African American  births were non martials compared to 29.9% of white births. The black community needs to be healed and mended and it starts with connecting and bringing together the family.

Check out this video trailer below entitle " Where have All the fathers gone" which discusses fathers in the black community and the current effect that their presence and non presence has had in the black community.
