Rihanna "Needed Me" music video

I will keep it real and be honest. Originally I was not feeling Rihanna's ANTI album. I skimmed throughout it and thought it was alright, but after attending the Rihanna ANTI concert in Brooklyn I had a change of heart. Many of the initial songs that Rihanna performed I was not familiar with and I realized they were the songs off the ANTI album. Of course this would be the case since the tour was called ANTI. After the concert I decided to re listened to some of the songs on the ANTI album and discovered there were some pretty good songs that I was feeling such as "Sex With Me" "Kiss It Better" and "Needed Me". As you can see, I have a thing for the sexual songs. Pass all the judgment you want.

Rihanna released the music video for her song "Needed Me"

Okay so here's my 5cents on the music video. I LOVE IT, because Rihanna is in her own lane and she's doing something other female artists aren't doing and that's keeping it ALL THE WAY REAL. In this music video there is a scene Rihanna moves in slow motion with an intense stare while rocking a bob cut and wearing an African necklace. This look is a dead giveaway that she's overcome with emotion and is seriously plotting something big. Throughout the music video she walks through a strip club holding a gun and you're saying to yourself, what is the purpose of this, but then you remember that it's Rihanna who is a 28 year old black woman from Saint Michaels Parrish, Barbados who literally DOES WHAT SHE WANTS and I'm so here for it. In the end she ends up shooting some man (I'm assuming the person she says NEEDED HER " and the video ends.

Basically in Needed Me Rihanna sings about a man who wants more than SEX. Rihanna is not here for it and basically sings about how she's a heart breaker and a SAVAGE.

Check it out Below.

Let me know what you thought about the video
You can also find the lyrics below

I was good on my own, that's the way it was, that's the way it was
You was good on the low for a faded fuck, on some faded love
Shit, what the fuck you complaining for?
Feeling jaded huh?
Used to trip off that shit I was kickin' to you
Had some fun on the run though I give it to you

But baby, don't get it twisted
You was just another nigga on the hit list
Tryna fix your inner issues with a bad bitch
Didn't they tell you that I was a savage
Fuck your white horse and a carriage
Bet you never could imagine
Never told you you could have it

You needed me
Oooh, you needed me
To feel a little more, and give a little less
Know you hate to confess
But baby ooo, you needed me

You been rollin' around, shit I'm rollin up
Light and roll it up
Break it down like a pound, shit was never us
Shit was never us
That's the real on the real, are you serious?
How you feel, how you feel?
Used to trip off that shit I was kickin' to ya
Had some fun on the run though, I give it to ya

But baby, don't get it twisted
You was just another nigga on the hit list
Tryna fix your inner issues with a bad bitch
Didn't they tell you that I was a savage
Fuck your white horse and a carriage
Bet you never could imagine
Never told you you could have it

You needed me
Oooh, you needed me
To feel a little more, and give a little less
Know you hate to confess
But baby ooo, you needed me

2015 *Never To Late*

It's 2015 and I've finally hit the blogging scene.

Happy Women's History Month

Let me first start off with an apology. I'm sorry I have not been very reliable these past few months and I promise to get back to my old regular self. My last post was mid December and since then I have yet to make a blog post. I'm active on social media and sometimes I think that should account for my blogging, but I know that is no excuse. So from here on out I'm back and I'll never dip out on you guys ever again.

Uniform pics (leaving for deployment and receiving care packages from home)

First things first let me give you all an update on my current situation. It is almost mid March and  I have been deployed to Bahrain for 5 months. The experience of being away from my friends and family is very surreal. I hate and love it all at the same time. I do get a lot of free time over here but I miss my daily freedom I am accustomed to in the states. Over here I have a small room, no vehicle, and my weekends are not my own. On a normal week I work Monday through Saturdays with Sundays off, but there's the occasional week where I have to go in on a Sunday but I don't mind. Bahrain is a pretty chill Middle Eastern country. The stress level of a deployment that a soldier usually experience is non existent simply based off of my location. I am thankful that God chose to send me here instead of Iraq of Afghanistan. So now friends and family you can rest easy about my well being. I'm not completely safe but the likelihood or something bad happening to me over here is not very high.

There's really not much to do over here ( so why not win as many races as possible )

I would like to thank everyone who has sent me letters and care packages while deployed. Your love and admiration is highly appreciated. On deployments mail tends to become the highlight of the day since we are not at home and able to just go to the store to get the usual items that we would need. Thank you to my extended family *THE TRUETTS* Jessi I truly appreciate you sending me any and everything that I need I don't think I could thank you enough, thank you to my friends who are like sisters ( Janae, Skyy, Alisa, Ashley M.) I appreciate your friendship more than you will ever know,  thank you to so my sorority KAPPA EPISLON PSI  and there *MY SISTER'S KEEPER PROGRAM* thank you to other sorors who have sent me items, and thank you to my line sisters * my THETA BOOS* KEY will forever be in my heart, thanks to the random West Point parent Brenda M., thank you to my wonderful male friends ( Rocky and Sigmund), and thank you to the organization who have sent me items when you do not even know me. The love that an American Soldier receives while deployed is unyielding and I am forever thankful.
Now let me give you an update on where I stand in this present day.
2015 will be great year for me indeed. I'm competing in the MS VETERAN AMERICAN 2015 competition (pageant)  and THE MISS ALABAMA USA 2015 pageant as well. I have never participated in a pageant before so this entire experience will be interesting. I will discuss more details about the pageants in later posts dedicated solely to the pageant. So far the support I have received has been amazing and it's so inspiring to see so many people on #TeamLela I will be sure to make you proud.

And of course I would still find a way to be Fiercely Real

I started graduated school at the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS at EL PASO (UTEP) mid February and I have completed my first class. I am working on getting a Masters of Art in Leadership Studies. TThe program is very military friendly and my goal is to complete a Masters Program before my initial 5 years in the Army is done. I completed the first class yesterday ( 8 March 2016) and I hope to finish the degree a year from now. 1 class down 9 more to go.

Glasses FLOW

The last thing I would like to touch on is the female mentorship program that I recently started while on this deployment. There have been many times where I have thought to myself " what is my purpose here on earth, what is it that God wants me to do" Over the years I've discovered that I am passionate about uplifting other females. Upon arriving to the base I am deployed at I discovered that members from the other branches of the United States Military were stationed here as well ( sailors, airmen, and marines), but upon discovering this I also noticed that each branch's personnel tend to keep to themselves and not interact with the other branches. Myself along with a Navy non commissioned officer decided that we were going to start up a female mentorship program .We pondered upon what we would call it and then my favorite word popped in my head "FIERCE" from there I said it would be called FIERCE and that we had to come up with an acronym for the program. I came up with " FEMALES INSPIRING EMPOWERING and REINFORCING CONTINUOUS EXCELLENCE" and the creation was born. My co founder hails from New Orleans and has been in the U.S Navy for 17 years I met her after I put up flyers seeking out females who wanted to be on the Praise Dance Team and she was the only person I had come out. Since then we've been close ever since. We decided that upon returning to the states we would have a logo created and get the acronym we came up for FIERCE patented. We would then start of the program in our respective locations and grow the organization. Eventually we are going to transform it into a non profit with the aim to positively influence as many female lives as possible.

Repping what I love and what I am inspired by

Well there you have it, that's what I've been up to these past weeks. I appreciate you all for sticking with me and I send nothing but blessings your way. I'll talk to yall later I'm off to look at pageant gowns and pageant jewelry (oops I mean Army documents and powerpoints) lol. I hope you all have a prosperous 2015

Why can't a female show off her NIPPLES

Society makes me so sick at times with some of it's ridiculous double standards.

Last night the songstress Rihanna Robyn Fenty decided to wear a slightly revealing sheer sequin dress to the CDFA Fashion Awards in NYC . The dress gave off a 1920 ( Great GATSBY) flapper vibe.
A flapper is a fashionable young woman with the intent of enjoying herself and flouting conventional standards of behavior. Rihanna definitely did just that while also wearing 216,000 Swarovski crystals which was designed by Adam Selman. Her dress was made out of sequin material and was completely see through. The singer wore underwear but decided to ditch her bra and bare it all. Here's the revealing dress

I am currently writing this blog in underwear and no bra ( I'm also at home and just showered and it's 100 degrees outside ) but if I wanted to wear a dress similar to what Rihanna is wearing I feel that I am entitled to do such a thing.

The human body is BEAUTIFUL ART when it is kept in a healthy natural looking state. Our bodies should not be something we are ashamed of. I applaud, admire, and look up to those people who are comfortable in their skin and don't mind showing it off, especially if they are single with no kids. ( Hey why not )

I decided to post this picture of Rihanna on my instagram and my Facebook account without thinking twice about what other people's personal opinions would be about Rihanna's attire. I should have braced myself for all the negative backlash I received about how she was trashy and looked like a slut. Those degrading comments resulted in me defending Rihanna and then it made me think. WHAT IS WRONG WITH RIHANNA SHOWING OFF HER NIPPLES. Men do this all the time in different type of settings, yet if a female does it anywhere outside the bedroom it is considered to be a bad, unclassy, trashy act.

We as human beings especially in AMERICA, have a problem. Why are females scrutinized at a much higher level than males are. Why are we held under the microscope for every little thing that we do, yet the males can get away with doing the exact same thing and no one would think twice about it.

I personally feel like if you're an entertainer, you're single with no kids, why not be free and do whatever the hell you want. As long as you the INDIVIDUAL are comfortable with your actions, that is all that should matter. If a woman wants to show off her cleavage, nipples, and butt why call her out. A man and a woman both have nipples yet its perfectly fine for a man to show is but a woman can't and thats total BS to me. So before you go speaking negatively about someone look at yourself first, reevaluate your own life, and know that obviously this person must feel comfortable with the skin that they are in if they have no problem showing off their body.

At the CDFA Awards Rihanna was awarded the 2014 Fashion Icon Award and I think she was very deserving of it. She wears whatever she wants and is not afraid to take risk.

Hey instagram moderators, are you about to delete this picture of Rihanna that has now been posted on thousands of IG accounts. Good luck with your deleting spree and this goes to show you that exposing a little nipple is not all that bad in the first place, whether that person be male or female.

We have got to do better and stop degrading our women who choose to freely express themselves. Women have done it for thousands of years and will continue to do so. Rihanna keep pushing the limits in the fashion industry, someone has to be brave enough to do so.

Veterans Day 2013

Today we celebrate Veterans Day of the year 2013. I would like to give thanks to all the veterans. Thank you to all that have served and those who are currently serving.  Few people know your struggle and what you deal with, and the pain that you go through.

Being a service member is not all about Honor and Glory. These men and women, deal with long days and long nights. They spend many days, weeks, and months away from their family. Some service members have missed huge chunks of their children lives. For those service members that are single, they deal with adjusting to living in a new area without any family. But through it all service members continuing moving forward and doing great things.

Although we continue to live our lives do not forget those service member who have given their lives in the longest war that our nation has been a part of. As of November 7, 2013 there has been a total of 3,395 coalition deaths in Afghanistan and a total of 4,486 American troops were killed in IRAQ from 2003 to 2012. Only 1 percent of the American population are a member of the military and I am apart of that 1 percent.
