Happy 2016 continue to be great

Hey everyone I hope you had a blessed and prosperous 2015. Now that 2016 is before us it's time to tackle those goals we set and to leave our mark and imprint upon 2016.  As you know I spent 80 percent of 2015 deployed to the country of Bahrain so I have much to accomplish in this upcoming year. There are so many places I want to visit and many things I will like to tackle. Please take advantage of this new season to improve upon yourself both Professionally and Personally. My advice to you would be to create a vision board and/or write down what goals that you have for yourself this year. By doing this you allow yourself to visually see what it is you would like to achieve. You should always be looking for ways to better yourself, the lives of others and your community.

My goals for 2016 consist of the following:

1) Become USATF Level 1 coaching certified
2) Officially launch my website
3) Start a non-profit
4) Read as much as possible
5) Grow my BLOG and Mary Kay Business
6) Finish my Masters Degree
7) Live a healthier life style
8) Improve my makeup skills
9) Learn more about investing
10) Win the Ms US Universal Title

What are some of your goals for the new year, let me know in the comment section.

Enjoy 2016 and lets make it a good one.

2015 *Never To Late*

It's 2015 and I've finally hit the blogging scene.

Happy Women's History Month

Let me first start off with an apology. I'm sorry I have not been very reliable these past few months and I promise to get back to my old regular self. My last post was mid December and since then I have yet to make a blog post. I'm active on social media and sometimes I think that should account for my blogging, but I know that is no excuse. So from here on out I'm back and I'll never dip out on you guys ever again.

Uniform pics (leaving for deployment and receiving care packages from home)

First things first let me give you all an update on my current situation. It is almost mid March and  I have been deployed to Bahrain for 5 months. The experience of being away from my friends and family is very surreal. I hate and love it all at the same time. I do get a lot of free time over here but I miss my daily freedom I am accustomed to in the states. Over here I have a small room, no vehicle, and my weekends are not my own. On a normal week I work Monday through Saturdays with Sundays off, but there's the occasional week where I have to go in on a Sunday but I don't mind. Bahrain is a pretty chill Middle Eastern country. The stress level of a deployment that a soldier usually experience is non existent simply based off of my location. I am thankful that God chose to send me here instead of Iraq of Afghanistan. So now friends and family you can rest easy about my well being. I'm not completely safe but the likelihood or something bad happening to me over here is not very high.

There's really not much to do over here ( so why not win as many races as possible )

I would like to thank everyone who has sent me letters and care packages while deployed. Your love and admiration is highly appreciated. On deployments mail tends to become the highlight of the day since we are not at home and able to just go to the store to get the usual items that we would need. Thank you to my extended family *THE TRUETTS* Jessi I truly appreciate you sending me any and everything that I need I don't think I could thank you enough, thank you to my friends who are like sisters ( Janae, Skyy, Alisa, Ashley M.) I appreciate your friendship more than you will ever know,  thank you to so my sorority KAPPA EPISLON PSI  and there *MY SISTER'S KEEPER PROGRAM* thank you to other sorors who have sent me items, and thank you to my line sisters * my THETA BOOS* KEY will forever be in my heart, thanks to the random West Point parent Brenda M., thank you to my wonderful male friends ( Rocky and Sigmund), and thank you to the organization who have sent me items when you do not even know me. The love that an American Soldier receives while deployed is unyielding and I am forever thankful.
Now let me give you an update on where I stand in this present day.
2015 will be great year for me indeed. I'm competing in the MS VETERAN AMERICAN 2015 competition (pageant)  and THE MISS ALABAMA USA 2015 pageant as well. I have never participated in a pageant before so this entire experience will be interesting. I will discuss more details about the pageants in later posts dedicated solely to the pageant. So far the support I have received has been amazing and it's so inspiring to see so many people on #TeamLela I will be sure to make you proud.

And of course I would still find a way to be Fiercely Real

I started graduated school at the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS at EL PASO (UTEP) mid February and I have completed my first class. I am working on getting a Masters of Art in Leadership Studies. TThe program is very military friendly and my goal is to complete a Masters Program before my initial 5 years in the Army is done. I completed the first class yesterday ( 8 March 2016) and I hope to finish the degree a year from now. 1 class down 9 more to go.

The last thing I would like to touch on is the female mentorship program that I recently started while on this deployment. There have been many times where I have thought to myself " what is my purpose here on earth, what is it that God wants me to do" Over the years I've discovered that I am passionate about uplifting other females. Upon arriving to the base I am deployed at I discovered that members from the other branches of the United States Military were stationed here as well ( sailors, airmen, and marines), but upon discovering this I also noticed that each branch's personnel tend to keep to themselves and not interact with the other branches. Myself along with a Navy non commissioned officer decided that we were going to start up a female mentorship program .We pondered upon what we would call it and then my favorite word popped in my head "FIERCE" from there I said it would be called FIERCE and that we had to come up with an acronym for the program. I came up with " FEMALES INSPIRING EMPOWERING and REINFORCING CONTINUOUS EXCELLENCE" and the creation was born. My co founder hails from New Orleans and has been in the U.S Navy for 17 years I met her after I put up flyers seeking out females who wanted to be on the Praise Dance Team and she was the only person I had come out. Since then we've been close ever since. We decided that upon returning to the states we would have a logo created and get the acronym we came up for FIERCE patented. We would then start of the program in our respective locations and grow the organization. Eventually we are going to transform it into a non profit with the aim to positively influence as many female lives as possible.

Repping what I love and what I am inspired by

Well there you have it, that's what I've been up to these past weeks. I appreciate you all for sticking with me and I send nothing but blessings your way. I'll talk to yall later I'm off to look at pageant gowns and pageant jewelry (oops I mean Army documents and powerpoints) lol. I hope you all have a prosperous 2015

Happy 2014

HAPPY 2014!!!!! LETS DO GREAT THINGS

I'm excited to be writing my first blog post of the new year. With every new years comes a fresh start for me, one reason is because my birthday is Dec 30 and my age changes with every new year. I turned 24 this year and I find it so hard to believe that I'm almost a quarter of a century old. Time really does fly. 2013 was an interesting and fun year for me. I traveled to Cali, Vegas, Atlanta, Houston, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, and up the east coast to Virginia. I definitely was on the move and hope to do the same in 2014. I really can't sit still.  I have determined that whatever job I have after I get out of the Army better entails me to do a lot of traveling. In 2013 I did my first boudoir photoshoot and got to practice being sexy. Let me tell you, it is not as easy as you would think it would be. Naturally being sexy does not come easy for me and I struggle with looking fierce all the time when i need to soften up and bring out the sex appeal.  I got to experience what Black Hollywood is like and meet new people. I attended my first concert and saw my favorite singer "BEYONCE" twice. She was so amazing I had to go back for a second dose of Queen Bey. If you haven't seen her in concert you are definitely missing out.

Let me stop dwelling on the past and focus on the future. 2014 is here and I really feel as if it came too fast. I'm still reminiscing off my awesome 2013. One of the things I hope to accomplish in this new year is the completion of my personal website. www.lelavictoria.com
If you go to that site you will see a blank page. I already completed the first step and purchased the domain name from GO DADDY, now i need to find a site to host it and put in the work and start creating my website. I really was being lazy with this. I bought the domain name in October of 2013, so yeah I have been slacking. One of the reason for wanting to start my own personal site is because of my blog. I want to move my blog to my personal site. I'm grateful for blogger let me host my blog on their site but I want to make my blog more personal and I think that can be done by having it on my own personal owned website.  I'm still working on how that will exactly work out so if anyone know of anyone who is computer savvy send me their name and help a sister out. I need a little help. I can't wait to finally complete it and share it with everyone.

Also in 2014 I plan to take the LSAT (Law School Admissions Test). In undergradI majored in American Legal Studies (pre law) and I enjoyed the courses I took while at West Point, so it's only right that I pursue law. Our legal system is seriously flawed and I would like to contribute to possibly fixing a broken system. Also the law world is something that God wants me to do. He's given me many signs therefore whether I want to or not, law and Lela has been placed in the stars. Im hoping to do more with modeling in the year of 2014 and at least walk in a show or do a photoshoot every month, I really can't waste time I am not getting any younger.

I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who takes the time to read my blog. Thank you to those of you who support what I do. I really appreciate it more than you will ever know. Leave a comment on a blog every now and then I'll comment back.
