Celebrate "WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY" with Beyonce

Today is August 19, 2012 (AKA) WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY

Beyonce has teamed up with the UNITED NATIONS and has taking a pledge to spread the word to 1 BILLION people to go out and do something small or big for man kind
She also has dedicated her song I WAS HERE to this important cause.

"We all want to know that our lives meant something to someone else"...(BEYONCE)

The message is very simple is that if we all do something (whether it be small or big) in the end it will have a major effect on society

Even though I'm writing writing this BLOG at 5pm the day is far from over and you can still go out and make a difference in the world.

Many people have asked me WHY ARE YOU SUCH A BEYONCE FAN? I am a BEY STAN because she does things like this that are outside of her music. She goes above and beyond and I admire her for that.

ON 10 AUGUST at the United Nations General Assembly, Beyoncé SANG “I Was Here” to more than 1,200 fans, celebrities, humanitarian workers and dignitaries. The video for the song, which Beyoncé and song-writer Diane Warren donated to the campaign, was set to be filmed for premiere in honor of World Humanitarian Day.

"Everyone can be a humanitarian. All it takes is one act to help someone else. That’s the spirit of people helping people,” said United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos, speaking at the event, which was hosted by television journalist Anderson Cooper and showcased the work of humanitarian aid workers around the world.

THANK YOU BEYONCE for always going above and beyond. We definitely know that you were here.

Fierce and Love

The Voice

I’m walking down the street to my own beat
Of the drum that only I can hear don’t run
Stay here with me and come along on this journey maybe it will set you free
Or just let you see the hypocrisy of our society in 3d.
Who am I you ask well just let me state a few facts.
I’m that girl yes I said a maturing young adult who at times stumbles and falls and maybe even crawlS
Sometimes I just want to bawl my eyes  out and SHOUT!!!! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE
I am not the STATISTICS that you know so very well….HELL I’ve overcame it.
Or at least the hard part that is since I don’t have any kids and I finished high school
And let the rural south my journey has taken me to a state that resides past the white house.
But I always look back hoping to help those who have not overcome who still deals with the guns and violence
And sometimes silence of that hard knock life and who just want to give up on the fight.
But I will not let them. I mean I just cant so as you sit here and listen to me go on – on this rant
Just know you will never figure me out, as I go about my journey throughout life.
I will try as I might to fulfill my dreams. To walk the cat walk and help change the law.
But first I work to demolished everything negative that you have ever thought about me
You see even though I have two strikes against me
Im not mad at the world as though it appears I maybe. You’ve heard I’m Loud rude and uneducated that’s a few
But honestly I am a DIVA
I am DIVINELY INSPIRED and VICTORIOUSLY ANNOINTED. I hope you get my point and give me the respect I deserve
As I rise above the word and lies that are heard. I am just trying to prove you wrong and string you along.
I’m no longer walking down the street anymore I’m running and soon I will SOAR

Marissa Alexander's imprisonment is a miscarriage of justice

The state of Florida has seriously disappointed me. Some of the laws that the state currently have passed absolutely make no sense what so ever. The state let a woman (Casey Anthony) who murdered her own daughter walk out the courthouse a free woman, A teen murderer was free for more than a month after killing a 17 year old male (Trayvon Martin) and an innocent woman (Marissa Alexander)  was sentenced to 20 years because she fired a firearm in order to protect herself from her abusive husband.

31 year old Marissa Alexander sentenced to 20 years in prison (no one is dead, no drugs were involved, no property was stolen, and no one was harmed)

Marissa Alexander (c. 1981- ), mother of three from Jacksonville, Florida, was sentenced on May 11th 2012 to 20 years in prison for firing a warning shot when her abusive husband threatened to kill her and came at her. No one was harmed – except her when he beat her earlier. She argued self-defence based on the Stand Your Ground law in Florida. The police, judge and jury did not buy it.
The prosecutor in the case was Angela Corey, who is also prosecuting Trayvon Martin’s killer, George Zimmerman.
Alexander’s husband, Rico Gray, had a past of beating and choking her. One time it got so bad it landed her in the hospital and he was arrested. After that she got a court order of protection – and a gun (with a permit and training).
On the night of August 1st 2010 Gray found out that she had sent pictures of their newborn daughter to her ex-husband. He went into a jealous rage, cornered her, started beating her. She got away and ran to her truck in the garage. But when she got there she had no keys. She tried to open the garage door but it was stuck. She had no phone so she could not call for help.
She got her gun from her truck and entered the house to find another way out or at least get her phone. But when she entered the kitchen there he was with her two stepsons. She was holding the gun down at her side.
He yelled, “Bitch, I will kill you!” and charged.
She held up the gun, turned away and fired a shot into the air, hitting the kitchen wall.
… a person is justified in the use of deadly force and does not have a duty to retreat if he or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm…
- Stand Your Ground law, Florida
The police arrested her.
Her Congresswoman, Corrine Brown, comparing it to Zimmerman:
How in Jacksonville you shoot in the air and no one gets hurt and you get 20 years and less than 50 miles down the road, less than 20 miles down the road, you shot and murdered somebody and you don’t even get arrested.
The judge and jury saw her as acting out of anger, not fear and self-defence. It seems she was painted as an out-of-control, angry black bitch.
It took the jury 12 minutes to find her guilty of three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Because she fired a gun, she gets 20 years under Florida’s strict gun laws.
Corey, the prosecutor:
I feel like when someone fires a loaded gun inside of a home with two children standing in the direction where the bullet was fired, we have to have tough laws that say you don’t do that. Justice, with the laws of the state of Florida, was served.
Alexander:
What was I supposed to do that day and the Stand Your Ground law, who is it for?

The law requires anyone convicted of an aggravated assault when a firearm is discharged to serve a minimum of 20 years in prison with no regard to extenuating circumstances.
Alexander says that on August 1, 2010, her husband went into a rage and tried to strangle her after reading some text messages she sent to her ex-husband. She fled the family home, got to the garage and realized she didn't have her keys. Fearing for her life, she says she grabbed a gun and went back into the home to retrieve her keys.
She says her husband threatened to kill her, and to keep him at bay, she fired a warning shot into a wall.
Why was she charged, convicted and sentenced? Because State Attorney Angela Corey, the same prosecutor leading the Trayvon Martin case, said the gun was fired near a bedroom where two children were and they could have been injured.

Roland Martin
Did the bullet hit the children? No. Did Alexander point the gun at her husband and hit him? No. She simply fired a warning shot, and according to Florida's shameful law, that's enough for a minimum 20-year sentence.
Corey offered Alexander a three-year sentence in a plea bargain, but Alexander felt she had done nothing wrong and so rejected the plea.
In sentencing her, the judge made it clear that, despite all the pleas for mercy, including one from Alexander's 11-year-old daughter who took the stand, he was left with no choice but to send Alexander to jail for at least 20 years.
Alexander tried to invoke Florida's controversial stand your ground law in her defense, but that was rejected. Critics of the law's role in the Martin case have said this shows how the law is applied unevenly.
But the real issue here isn't the faulty stand your ground law. It's the ridiculous mandatory minimum sentences that have been approved by countless state legislatures and Congress.
In 2007, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled (PDF) that the federal sentencing guidelines in some types of cases should not be seen as mandatory but as "advisory," giving judges the leeway (PDF) to consider multiple factors before sentencing someone.
In a 2003 speech to the American Bar Association, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy railed against federal mandatory minimums, saying, "Our resources are misspent, our punishment too severe, our sentences too long."
"I can accept neither the necessity nor the wisdom of federal mandatory minimum sentences," Kennedy said. "In too many cases, mandatory minimum sentences are unwise or unjust."
Unfortunately, on the state level, far too many law-and-order legislators, most with no courtroom or law enforcement experience, enact such laws without giving any thought to potential cases like Alexander's.
The 10-20-life policy has no business in the laws of Florida or any other state.
Judges should have the discretion to consider a variety of factors in sentencing, and I have no doubt had this judge been given flexibility, Alexander wouldn't be going to prison for 20 years.
These types of injustices are common in our legal system, and it is necessary for everyone with a conscience to stand up and decry these so-called legislative remedies that end up as nightmares.
Alexander was a woman trying to flee an enraged husband. She could have easily pointed the gun at him and pleaded self-defense, and like George Zimmerman, the shooter in the Martin case who was not initially charged, Alexander might never have been arrested.
Our prison systems are overcrowded, and folks like Marissa Alexander do not belong in them.
One hopes that Florida Gov. Rick Scott will find some compassion and grant Alexander a pardon, and the Florida Legislature will revise the law to prevent future miscarriages of justice.
Florida elected officials and residents should be ashamed of this law and do all they can to change it.

"THE VOICE" Honoring WHITNEY ELIZABETH HOUSTON

When I think about the art of music many names come to mind, and one of those names is Whitney Houston. The voice of Whitney was magical it sends chills down my spine, and makes me want to sing along 'THAT IS IF I KNOW THE WORDS"

She was truly a gift from GOD and I still can not believe we lost such a magnificent woman at such a young age. When I found out that she had died, my heart literally dropped to my stomach. I just wanted it to be a rumor, it was something that I did not want to accept. But the reality was that she had left this earth spiritually with only her body remaining.

With her passing it was finally acknowledged that both the king (michael jackson) and the queen of pop had both passed away. I took her passing really hard, and cried all day of her funeral.

One reason I felt so sad was because growing up I sung Whitney Houston's song like she was going out of style. In my first talent show I sung her song "The Greatest Love of All". She really left a big impression on me growing up as a young child.

I just wanted to share with my friends, family, and the world my feelings on such a special person to me . We will always Love you Whitney

Romeo has definitely dropped the "Lil"

My first celebrity crush on a boy who was actually my age was lil Romeo (PERCY ROMEO MILLER JR) . I enjoyed some of  lil BowWow's music but I was definitely not head over heels for the dude. Now me and ROMEO were another story. He was such a cutie pie. The first actual CD I owned was his debut album and I wore that thing out. He was introduced to us at the age of 11 and I just so happen to be the same age as him. His debut song "MY BABY" was a hit

For those of you who did not know after high school Romeo went to college at USC ( the University of Southern  California) and was a member of the school's basketball team.
Unfortunately from the looks of things, I dont think he graduated from USC. Now adays you can catch him on your tv screen. He was recently in the movie Jumping the Broom trying to push up on Tasha Smith. And most recently he played a youngster  pursuing an older woman in the VH1 hit series Single Ladies. Below you can find ROMEO and you can definitely see that he is no longer little.

BEYONCE rocking the braids

Anyone who has anything negative to say about braids, must not know about Solange and BEYONCE . For the past few months Solange has been seen out and about rocking box braids and now BEYONCE has followed up right behind her and has gotten some of her own.

Last night (July 17, 2012) Beyonce was seen at Nas' "Life is Good" dinner sporting some blonde box braids on her own. She taking it back to her Destiny Child days and looked mighty good doing so.

Beyonce out and about with #BlueIvy

Beyoncé rocks an Aztec HOD Summer 12" rompe

she looks so pretty ...it looks as if she's only rocking lipstick

I love the many hairstyles that we as African American women rock from day to day, and I am really excited to see my girl Beyonce switching it up a bit.

So for anyone who thinks that natural hair and weaves(sew ins) are the only hair styles that are hot PLEASE think again, BRAIDS are not dead. I love braids and will gladly rock some in the near future.

I have to give myself a break from BRAIDS after wearing them for 7 of the 8 semesters I was in college.

Once again shoutout to my girl Beyonce and I cant wait for your new album. Below you will find pictures of BEYONCE at Nas' party last night

Whitney Houston's Family signs deal with LIFETIME for new reality tv show

Yesterday May 11, 2012 marked 3 months since the passing of THE VOICE Ms. Whitney Houston.

On that day it was reported by the Huffington post that her family signed a deal with LIFETIME networks for a new reality TV show called THE HOUSTON FAMILY CHRONICLES

The network announced Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbie Kristina, and mom Cissy will be featured in the new reality series. Along with Whitney's daughter and mother, "The Bodyguard" star's sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston, Pat's daughter Rayah and Whitney's brother Gary will be featured on the tentatively titled, "The Houston Family Chronicles." According to Lifetime, the series will feature the Houston family "as they take on their greatest challenge, supporting and guiding Bobbi Kristina as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most, her Mother."

The news of this reality TV show caught me completely off guard,  being that majority of the time the family has been pretty private. But I think something like this is needed in order to keep Bobby Kristina on a straight and narrow path and not on a path that involves drugs. I am excited to watch the show. Being that the Houston family is known to be a musical family filled me lots of talent, I am looking forward to getting to see more of them. I am a huge Whitney Houston fan and anything dealing with her I will support. I would like to wish her family all the best and send all my love as they continue to grow and learn how to deal with life without WHITNEY. We love you Whitney.

I Got The Hottest Chick In The Game Wearing My Chain

Has giving birth to " BLUE IVY " and becoming a mother, changed the QUEEN BEY?  On January 7, 2012 Beyoncé gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and since then she has seen to be a different and more open person. She still keeps some aspects of her life private. The couple decided to reveal photos of BLUE IVY about a month after she was born.

Beyoncé has also created a personal TUMBLR account where she reveals personal intimate pictures of herself and her family.

THE LATEST surprise that Beyoncé has revealed to us was a photo where she appears to be partially nude rocking a chain (apparently its Jay Z's chain). I would like to say KUDOS to Beyoncé on being more open and being yourself. Your STANS really appreciate all that you have done and will do. We love you Beyoncé keep the fierceness coming mama... Check out the picture below.

Only FAITH Can Get You Through

"You can't see into the future, you can't see through dark clouds, you can't see all the pitfalls, so walk on by faith each day"

These are the words of CISSY HOUSTON 's ( born EMILY DRINKARD) new song that she will sing at her daughter's Tribute next month. Her faith keeps her going and I am glad to know she can rely on it. The mother of WHITNEY HOUSTON recently did her first interview since her beloved daughter's death. She decided to do the interview with local TV station MY9. NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH was the location that CISSY chose to conduct the interview. She has been a member of the church since 1953 and felt that this particular site was the right place to speak her very first words about her daughter to the world.

Cissy states, "I'm very proud of my daughter, she accomplished a great deal in the short time that she's had here I'm proud of her, she was a very wonderful person." In the interview Cissy shows us just how strong of a woman she is known to be. Cissy was able to return to New Hope 4 weeks after her daughter's funeral. She's gone on to say if there was something she could do to bring Whitney back she would but she knows that is impossible and everything is in God's hands. As a mother she has no regrets and states that Whitney looked out for her family. (The fact that Whitney cared for her family is something that I really love about her, I believe in the mentality if you make it big so does your family. Never forget where you come from)

Cissy refused to comment on the day that Whitney died * Feb 11, 2012* and how she found out about her daughter's death (I respect that she decided to keep some thing private, the world does not need to know everything). One thing Cissy did make a statement about was the way that the Media, portrayed her daughter. She felt as if the media only wanted to discuss Whitney's low points, and highlight the negative parts of her life. Cissy says sometimes it seemed as if the media were making assumptions that were totally wrong. She proceeds to say she will let them think what they want about Whitney, as long as they don't say it to her face all is well.

(Everyone has their high and low points) Cissy just wants her beautiful daughter Whitney to be remembered for the wonderful things she has done in her life and the amazing contributions that she gave to society.

The HOUSTON FAMILY will perform a special tribute to WHITNEY HOUSTON this May 2012 at the McDonald Gospel Fest at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. This falls on mother day I wonder if BOBBI KRISTINA will bless us with her gift.

Crazy In Love 4 Years Later

Anytime the fourth of the month rolls around I have to immediately check and see what Beyonce milestone is occurring. Sometimes its her birthday, mama Tina's bday, her man's bday, or her anniversary (unfortunately Blue Ivy was born on Jan 7, 2012).

Today is April 4, 2012 which is a very significant day. The Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated 44 years ago in Tennessee, Maya Angelou (Marguerite Ann Johnson) turns 84, and Beyonce and Jay Z celebrates 4 years of marriage.

I was a senior in high school when I found out Beyonce had jumped the broom. The news caught me immediately off guard and I did not know how to feel about the marriage. I had mix feelings because Beyonce was my girl and JayZ was not my boy. I still do not really like Jay Z that much but he's growing on me just a little bit. And we all know JayZ is not the nicest looking brother on the planet. I will be real with everyone, I did not think he was good enough for Beyonce and things from his past did not sit too well with me. But what I think does not matter, as long as she loves him the stans will have to put up with him.

I just want to give a shoutout to the couple and say Happy 4th Anniversary and I wish you two many more.
